Character
Songdo Convensia is a full-scale MICE venue built for international exhibitions and conferences, with enough hall, ballroom and meeting-room capacity to host complex multi-track events
The building fits Songdo’s planned-business-district character: large, highly organized and oriented toward events that bring together exhibitors, delegates and corporate groups. Its broad roof forms give it a recognizable silhouette, but the real identity is functional — a venue designed to absorb crowds and divide them efficiently between exhibition, conference and hospitality spaces
The experience
The four exhibition halls total roughly 17,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 900 standard booths. Conference facilities include large ballrooms and multiple floors of meeting rooms that can be divided or combined, allowing a single event to run plenary sessions, smaller breakouts and exhibition activity under one roof
For ordinary visitors, the event floor plan matters. A consumer expo may keep almost everyone in the exhibition wing, while an international conference can spread participants through ballrooms and meeting rooms across several floors. Registration instructions from the organizer are therefore more important than simply knowing the building address. The scale also changes how breaks and movement work: large events can create long walks between sessions, while a smaller conference may occupy only one compact part of the complex
History
Songdo Convensia opened its first phase in October 2008 as one of the early major projects in Songdo International Business District. The original facility included Exhibition Halls 1 and 2, premier ballrooms and 23 meeting rooms
A second phase opened in July 2018, adding Exhibition Halls 3 and 4, a grand-ballroom complex and 12 additional meeting rooms. That expansion turned the venue into a substantially larger convention platform and reinforced Songdo’s effort to compete for international MICE business
Before you go
Treat organizer instructions as your primary practical guide. Entry points, registration desks and access rules can change completely from one trade show or conference to the next
The surrounding Songdo district is walkable by Korean business-district standards, but the complex itself is large. If your event uses a specific hall or ballroom, note the hall number before arrival so you can choose the closest entrance rather than crossing the building after check-in
