Daejeon O-World
A large family park in Daejeon combining a zoo, 15-minute bus safari, walk-through Bird Land, rides, gardens and forested grounds below Bomunsan
African safari, zoo animals, walk-through bird encounters, children’s rides, gardens and a full-day mixed family outing
A large outdoor complex split among Zoo Land, Safari, Bird Land, Joy Land and Flower Land. Moving between zones takes time
The park’s variety comes from format as much as content: a seated safari, on-foot bird encounters, rides and open gardens
Three expansions changed how the park is used
Daejeon O-World began as Daejeon Zoo in 2002. Flower Land arrived in 2009, when the park took its current name, and Bird Land followed in 2016. Each addition changed the visit: families now move between a safari bus, walk-through birds, rides and gardens
The park spreads across a large foothill site below Bomunsan. The full complex covers about 776,986 square metres. Zoo paths, rides and gardens occupy separate parts of the grounds, so moving between zones takes time
Flower Land, added in 2009, gives the park a separate planted area of garden paths away from the animal enclosures and ride queues
The safari compresses animal viewing into 15 minutes
The African Safari is a 15-minute circuit in a 40-seat bus. Lions, elephants, zebras, ostriches, black bears, Siberian tigers, camels and other animals are viewed from the vehicle along the route
The safari is not one mixed enclosure. The bus passes separate black-bear, tiger and lion sections before reaching elephants and the herbivore area. Strollers are left at a temporary storage point before boarding, and safari access requires a day pass, safari ticket or annual membership
Weather and temperature can shorten safari hours independently of the general park schedule because of animal-welfare rules
Bird Land turns the animal route into a walk-through
Bird Land puts visitors on foot among tropical plants and free-moving birds. Visitors remain on foot throughout the walk-through area. The birds can come close enough for direct feeding, but only designated food is allowed and visitors must not grab them. Its operating hours can also shift with weather and temperature because of animal-welfare conditions
In Bird Land visitors are inside the animal environment; in the safari they remain inside the bus. Joy Land adds rides, including small attractions with explicit height limits for children
Flower Land and the forested grounds add open walking space between the animal and ride zones
Before you go
The safari has the narrowest operating window in the park. Its separate boarding rules and earlier finish make it less flexible than Bird Land, the zoo paths, rides and gardens
