Gwangju Family Land
A long-running amusement park inside Gwangju’s Uchi Park, mixing 1991-era rides, a 75-metre Ferris wheel, children’s attractions and seasonal sledding
Classic amusement rides, Big Eye Ferris wheel views, children’s rides, family outings and seasonal water or snow sledding
A large outdoor amusement park with rides from several periods, a prominent Ferris wheel, children’s attractions and a separate seasonal sled slope
The park’s character comes from its mixed generations: opening-era rides still operate beside a much newer Ferris wheel and seasonal family attractions
The ride mix spans more than three decades
Gwangju Family Land opened in Uchi Park in July 1991. Several rides from that opening era are still part of the park, including Cheongnyong Express, Singsing Boat and the Viking, while later operators added newer attractions around them
The same grounds also contain a carousel, children’s bumper cars and small aircraft rides. Families move between long-running thrill rides and gentler children’s attractions without leaving the amusement area
The amusement concession covers roughly 149,758 square metres and 40 buildings inside Uchi Park. Big Eye, the older thrill rides, children’s rides and the seasonal sled area are spread across this broad outdoor site, with wooded park space still visible between attraction areas
Big Eye added a new skyline in 2018
Big Eye, completed in 2018, rises to about 75 metres. Its 36 enclosed cabins, each built for six passengers, hang around a large circular steel frame. The wheel rotates slowly above the ride area and surrounding Uchi Park, giving riders a high view across the grounds. From below, its height makes it the easiest structure to identify across the park
Big Eye stands beside much older rides, putting the park’s 1991 and 2018 layers in the same view
The sled slope changes with the season
Family Land also has a long four-season sled slope. In warmer months it operates as a water-sled course; in winter riders use round inflatable tube sleds on snow
Recent winter operations have used a snow run of about 120 metres. It remains an outdoor, weather-dependent facility. The adjacent escalator carries riders and their tubes back uphill, so they do not have to haul the sled up the full slope between runs. The fixed hill stays in place while water or snow changes how it is used across the year
