Nine South Koreans remain unaccounted for in Nepal as government and company response teams struggle to reach a flood-hit hydropower construction site. Korean teams have secured helicopters, but private flights have faced approval restrictions because roads and bridges into the area were washed away and authorities are concerned about further flooding.
Nepalese military helicopters have also been involved in the search. Korean reports Friday put the combined Nepal-China death toll from the disaster at more than 500, while Seoul issued a special travel advisory for four Nepalese provinces. The central question for the Korean response remains unchanged: whether rescuers can reach the site and establish the fate of the nine missing workers.
