ICT companies from Daegu are stepping up their push into Da Nang's smart-city market, using a new local business base to connect Korean technology suppliers with Vietnamese partners. The Daegu-Gyeongbuk ICT Industry Association moved its D2D Business Lounge into the Da Nang Innovation and Startup Support Center, placing the operation closer to the city's startup and technology ecosystem.
The goal is practical collaboration rather than a simple overseas office. The association says it wants to expand technology demonstrations and joint projects between Daegu companies and businesses in Da Nang. The relocation event brought together Da Nang officials, Korea's consul general in the city and representatives from Daegu's overseas business network, underlining the public-private nature of the effort.
For smaller Korean technology companies, overseas smart-city projects can be especially valuable because they provide reference cases that are difficult to build at home. The next step will be whether the new base can turn introductions and pilot programs into commercial contracts in transport, urban services, software and other smart-city fields.
