Companies represented by lawyers who formerly worked at South Koreaโs Fair Trade Commission won 14.8% of their cases against the agency, below the 21.6% rate for cases without such lawyers, according to an analysis of 271 lawsuits filed from 2022 through September 2026. Former commission officials took part in 51 cases, and companies won only four of the 27 cases among them that had reached judgment, while average monthly pay for officials moving to Kim & Chang rose from 8.25 million won to 30.59 million won.
The firms said counting participation from the initial complaint cannot capture the contribution of the many specialists involved before and during litigation.
