Daewoo E&C has asked the South Korean government to mediate fresh negotiations with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power after talks on construction of the Czech Dukovany nuclear project broke down. The roughly 27 trillion won project involves two 1,000-megawatt APR1000 reactors, and the companies reportedly failed to agree on who would absorb increased construction volume and costs.

Daewoo said the revised proposal did not adequately reflect post-bid increases and that it had advanced several hundred billion won in costs without settlement at KHNPโ€™s request. The Industry Ministry said it has no legal authority to intervene in commercial negotiations but will conduct weekly checks and support contingency measures for schedule, quality and cost risks.
