The Korea Heritage Service has announced plans to designate the main halls of Unheungsa Temple in Goseong and Geodongsa Temple in Yeongcheon as national treasures. Both buildings date to the 17th century and are valued for architectural features that show how Buddhist halls were rebuilt and developed after the Japanese invasions of the late 16th century.
The designation notice begins the formal review period before a final decision. If approved, the two halls will receive stronger national-level heritage protection and recognition.
