Namwon held an official ceremony on October 10 to celebrate Gwanghallu Pavilion’s designation as a National Treasure, upgrading it from its former Treasure status. The pavilion traces its origins to Gwangtongru, built by the statesman Hwang Hui during his exile in Namwon, and has stood for more than 400 years as the “First Pavilion of Honam.”
Known for its harmony with the surrounding landscape and its links to Chunhyangjeon, Gwanghallu remains a defining symbol of Namwon’s architectural and cultural heritage.
