A New York Times report on NewJeans' contracts has raised questions about alleged limits on dating, cost repayment, surveillance and rights over members' names, images and voices. Yonhap reported that the contracts were signed while the members were teenagers and that the report questioned whether protections for education, sleep and rest were included.
HYBE and ADOR said the agreements followed months of consultations with the members, their parents and legal representatives, and included separate protections for basic rights. The companies also said CCTV covered shared spaces for safety and that using faces or voices in AI content required individual consent.
