Retail prices for Korean beef and pork were higher than a year earlier just days before Chuseok, according to livestock-market data. Grade 1 beef sirloin averaged 10,421 won per 100 grams, up 4.5 percent from a year earlier, while pork belly averaged 3,018 won per 100 grams, up 7.6 percent. The increases add pressure to holiday grocery budgets even though both prices edged down from the previous day.
