Koreans on average begin earning more from labor than they consume at age 28 and return to a lifecycle deficit at age 61, according to new official data. Labor income peaked at age 45 at 46.51 million won per person, while the largest surplus also occurred around that age.

The figures show how Koreaโ€™s working years are carrying a longer span of education costs in youth and consumption needs after retirement.
