The government selected three aging industrial zones as candidates for a competitiveness and living-environment renewal program. The sites are Jeju Science Park, Wanju General Industrial Complex in North Jeolla and Munmak General Industrial Complex in Wonju, Gangwon. The joint industry and land ministry program is intended to modernize infrastructure and make older manufacturing areas more attractive to younger workers.
Each area will now move into planning for the specific projects and investments needed to qualify for the full renewal program.
