Seoul apartment prices are close to an 85-week uninterrupted rise, matching one of the capital's longest recent stretches of gains. Korean reporting says cumulative prices have risen more than 17 percent since the current upturn began in February last year.

Increases have also spread to districts such as Seongbuk, Guro and Gangseo rather than remaining confined to the most expensive neighborhoods. The prolonged rise keeps housing affordability and policy consistency at the center of the capital's property debate.
