Government efforts to diversify Korea’s materials, parts and equipment supply chain have not reduced reliance on individual countries across all products. Among items with annual imports exceeding $1 million, 437 had more than 90% of imports coming from a single country, a 16% increase over seven years.
The evidence also shows that 60% of government-backed technology development successes had no sales performance, highlighting the gap between securing technical results and building commercial resilience.
