South Korea's housing market continues to diverge between the capital and some regional cities. Maeil Shinmun reported on October 13 that Daegu's apartment sale-price index stood 27.31 percent below its October 2021 peak as of August 2026, while Seoul's index was 11.67 percent higher than at that same starting point.

The comparison uses indexes over several years, not changes in a single month. Daegu authorities have sought more national policy support as unsold housing remains a concern. Buyers should not apply the aggregate figures to every neighborhood or property; the data chiefly illustrate how different the regional housing cycles have become.
