Hanmi Pharmaceutical has reportedly set the initial supply prices for Epe Auto-Injector, its weekly GLP-1 obesity treatment sometimes described as a domestic counterpart to Wegovy. The first month’s treatment would carry a combined supply price of 129,800 won, according to pricing information conveyed to medical institutions after an internal distribution-policy meeting on October 14.
The product is designed to begin with 2 mg once a week for two weeks, followed by 4 mg once a week for another two weeks. Individual supply prices were reported at 24,200 won for 2 mg, 40,700 won for 4 mg, 57,200 won for 6 mg, 69,300 won for 8 mg and 74,800 won for 10 mg.
The reported first-month calculation
That dosing schedule produces the reported first-month total: two 2 mg injections and two 4 mg injections. The amount is substantially below the 200,000-won price range cited for Wegovy and Mounjaro, supporting expectations that Epe could enter the market at roughly half the initial cost of competing medicines.
The comparison nevertheless has an important limitation. The disclosed figures are reported supply prices set by Hanmi Pharmaceutical, not confirmed prices that patients will pay at pharmacies or clinics. The final out-of-pocket amount could therefore differ depending on distribution and dispensing arrangements.
The lower initial price could expand the options available to people considering prescription obesity treatment and intensify price competition in South Korea’s GLP-1 market. The next points to watch are the official launch details, confirmed retail pricing and whether later monthly costs remain competitive as patients move to progressively higher doses.
