Toronto has temporarily turned part of Yonge Street into BTS Boulevard

Toronto has temporarily renamed part of Yonge Street in North York 'BTS Boulevard' as the city prepares for BTS's sold-out concerts at Rogers Stadium on Aug. 22 and 23. Twenty black-and-red BTS Blvd signs have been installed along the corridor from North York Boulevard toward Finch Avenue, in an area already known for a dense concentration of Korean restaurants, cafés and markets.

The honorary designation is scheduled to remain in place through Sept. 23. The project followed a Toronto City Council motion and forms part of a broader welcome for the group, which is returning to Toronto for major live shows after a long gap. Local Korean businesses are likely to benefit from the large number of fans moving through the district during the concert period.

For K-pop, the symbolism is straightforward: a global city is temporarily using one of its best-known streets to celebrate a Korean act. For North York's Korean community, the timing also turns the neighborhood itself into part of the concert experience rather than leaving the cultural activity confined to the stadium.
