Transport agencies across the Chungcheong region are coordinating a denser network of bus rapid transit routes while looking for better public-transport links to Cheongju International Airport. At the 34th metropolitan transport council, officials from the central government, Daejeon, Sejong, North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong reviewed BRT projects connecting Sejong with Gongju, Jochiwon, Cheongju and other major hubs.

The planning is tied to Sejong's expanding administrative role and a broader goal of making the region function as one transport area rather than a collection of separate city systems. Cheongju Airport was a specific focus of the meeting, with agencies discussing stronger connections between the airport and existing rail and bus networks. The practical test will be whether new corridors reduce transfer friction enough to change everyday travel across the region.
