Incheon City Council is pressing the central government to include two major rail proposals serving Cheongna in the fifth national railway network plan. The council wants both an extension of the Daejang-Hongdae line to Cheongna and the GTX-D Y-shaped route.
Council members argue that the projects are important to transport capacity in northwestern Incheon. The proposed GTX-D configuration would connect Incheon Airport through Cheongna toward southern Seoul, while the Daejang-Hongdae extension would bring that line farther west into Cheongna.
What residents should know
Inclusion in the national plan is a critical planning step rather than a guarantee of construction. It gives projects a stronger basis for subsequent feasibility, funding and implementation work, making the central government's final network-plan decision the immediate issue for residents.
