Seoul is preparing for the 2026 Chuseok holiday with later public transport and a round-the-clock emergency medical network. The city’s holiday measures run from September 23 to 28, covering the main travel period around the national holiday.

For people returning to Seoul late at night, subway and city-bus services will be extended on September 26 and 27 so key routes continue until about 1 a.m. The city also plans extra intercity and express-bus capacity during the holiday rush. Travelers should still check the last service for their specific station or stop because departure times vary by route.

Medical access is the other practical part of the plan. Seoul says 74 emergency medical institutions and hospital emergency rooms will operate 24 hours a day during the holiday period. Detailed holiday information, including transport and medical guidance, is due to be available through Seoul’s holiday information services from September 16. For residents staying in the city, the combination means fewer gaps in both late-night travel and urgent care during one of Korea’s busiest holiday weeks.
