Construction has begun on a second Wonju Yonsei Medical Center hospital in Wonju Enterprise City, a project intended to reduce the need for residents to travel elsewhere for routine and essential care. The medical center plans to invest about 65 billion won in the new facility, with completion targeted for March 2028.

The hospital is planned with 50 beds and a strong outpatient and health-checkup focus, along with a pediatric service. That mix reflects the needs of a growing residential district more than the model of a large tertiary hospital. For residents, the practical gain will depend on which specialties are staffed, how emergency and referral pathways connect to existing hospitals, and whether pediatric access improves as planned.

The project is being framed as part of a locally complete medical-care system for Wonju. A new building alone cannot deliver that goal, but placing more services inside Enterprise City could shorten routine journeys and keep more care within the region. The next milestones are construction progress, recruitment and the final service lineup before the 2028 opening.
