Starting October 1, drivers who accidentally leave a Korea Expressway Corporation toll road can re-enter through the same tollgate within 15 minutes without paying the 900-won base fee again. The Transport Ministry says the change is meant to remove a penalty that encouraged some drivers to make risky last-second lane changes to avoid a mistaken exit.
Officials estimate the rule could apply to about 7.5 million cases a year and reduce toll charges by roughly 6.8 billion won based on last year's traffic.
