KORInform take

U-World works best when visitors choose between the downhill luge, aerial Rollglider and children's areas according to their group's ages and appetite for thrills

Two very different ways downhill

At Yeosu U-World, riders steer small gravity-powered carts down a 1.3-kilometre luge track on Ansimsan. A chairlift carries them back to the start. The downhill run curves through wooded slopes, passes through tunnels and includes an elevated bridge section. On a clear day, the hillside also offers glimpses of the sea beyond Yeosu

The first ride is a chance to learn the turns and the brakes. A second run lets riders settle into the course at their own pace. U-World opened in 2019 after a development agreement with Yeosu the previous year. Its setting, west of the busy Expo waterfront, gives the city a different sort of outing from its coastal cable car or Ocean Railbike

A newer attraction, Rollglider, adds a quite different thrill. Riders hang from equipment that travels along a powered rail high above the hillside. Its route is roughly one kilometre long, reaching up to 40 metres above the ground; the advertised maximum speed is around 55 km/h. The ride starts at a platform about 215 metres above sea level. At the ticket office, Rollglider passengers exchange online tickets for boarding passes, then head to the sixth floor and collect a fitted helmet before boarding

A mountain park for different ages

The luge has a simple height rule worth checking before anyone buys tickets. At 130 centimetres or taller, visitors can ride on their own. Children from 85 to 129 centimetres ride with an adult, including on the lift. Anyone shorter than 85 centimetres cannot ride the luge. There are also restrictions for riders aged 70 or over and certain medical conditions

Rollglider has its own limits: riders must be 125–210 centimetres tall and weigh no more than 130 kilograms. Secure footwear is required, with trainers available to borrow at the boarding area. Families with children of mixed ages can split their time between the luge and U-World's other attractions

Dino Valley is the outdoor amusement park, with family rides around a dinosaur theme. Jurassic Adventure takes younger visitors indoors, with a large net slide, Brick Castle and a separate challenge course. The Teddy Bear Museum moved here from Yeosu's Expo area, adding an indoor alternative. The park also has games, a motion cinema and laser activities, each with its own ticket options

Choosing a pass

U-World sells luge rides separately and in combinations with other attractions. Its advertised all-day, prime and light passes cover different mixes; the all-day option includes Rollglider, while the lighter passes exclude some rides. Published regular pass prices run from about ₩48,000 for Light to ₩63,000 for All-Day, with eligibility-based discounts available. Match a pass to the attractions and height limits before paying

The main attractions normally operate from 10:00 to 19:00. Outdoor rides may pause during unsafe weather. During busy periods, time for the lift and queues can take a substantial part of a visit, so extra luge runs are a deliberate choice rather than a guaranteed quick add-on

Before you go

U-World is at 155 Ansimsan-gil in Sora-myeon, on the western side of Yeosu. Parking is free. Visitors arriving by train or intercity bus can arrange a taxi to the hillside complex; a dependable local bus connection to the entrance and a taxi fare could not be verified. Confirm the return journey before leaving the city centre

For younger children, checking height at home and using the staffed ticket counter helps when age documentation is required. Helmet and footwear requirements are particularly important for Rollglider
