President Lee Jae-myung’s job approval rating fell to 42% in a Gallup Korea poll released Friday, its lowest level since he took office. Negative assessments reached 50% for the first time, up from a week earlier when positive and negative views were both at 45%.
The survey covered 1,001 adults from Aug. 25 to 27 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. Foreign affairs was the most cited reason among positive respondents, while housing policy was the leading reason for negative assessments. The next polls will show whether this is a short-term dip or a broader change in sentiment.
