Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has proposed a record 69 trillion won budget for 2027, up 6.2 trillion won, or 9.9%, from this year’s main budget. The ministry says the increase is centered on housing supply and future mobility. The plan is one specific part of the broader 2027 government budget that KORInform has already covered.
Housing accounts for a large share of the increase. The ministry plans to raise housing-supply spending from 21.2 trillion won this year to 30 trillion won next year as it works toward supplying more than 1.1 million publicly supported homes by 2030. For 2027, the plan calls for 218,000 such homes, up from 194,000 this year.
Where the extra money is going
The budget still has to move through the National Assembly, so the proposed allocations are not the final spending authority. The practical question is how quickly the larger housing envelope translates into projects and completed homes, while mobility programs compete for the rest of the record budget. Legislative review will determine what survives intact.
