President Lee Jae Myung has approved the appointments of Lee So-young as minister of SMEs and Startups and Lee Jeong-hyeon as deputy prosecutor general. The approvals were issued while the president was in New York for the UN General Assembly.

The National Assembly committee responsible for the SMEs ministry adopted Lee So-young's confirmation report earlier in the day. The report included both supportive and critical assessments from lawmakers.

Lee Jeong-hyeon moves from his post as Suwon High Prosecutors' Office chief to the deputy prosecutor general position. With the prosecutor general post vacant, he is expected to serve as acting prosecutor general while the prosecution system prepares for its October reorganization.

The appointments fill two senior posts with immediate administrative responsibilities. Their practical effect will become clearer through the ministry's small-business policy agenda and the prosecution leadership's handling of the transition to the new system.
