South Korea's Justice Ministry has announced the first major personnel appointments for the new prosecution office that opens on October 2, largely keeping existing senior prosecutors in corresponding posts.

Park Cheol-woo, the current head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, will remain in charge as the head of the new Seoul Central District Prosecution Office. Similar continuity applies across several regional offices, reflecting an emphasis on organizational stability during the transition.

The ministry also named Joo Min-cheol, currently head of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office anti-corruption division, as chief of the Daegu Metropolitan Prosecution Office. Two officials were newly appointed to senior posts, while 27 senior prosecutors, 152 mid-level officials and 11 rank-and-file prosecutors were reassigned effective October 2.

Where only the institution's name changes from prosecutors' office to prosecution office without a structural change, the ministry said it would not issue a separate appointment. The personnel plan therefore combines a formal organizational transition with substantial continuity in who leads the major offices.
