The People Power Party's ethics committee reduced Representative Kwon Young-jin's suspension of party membership from 18 months to one year after reviewing his appeal. The shorter penalty preserves his ability to seek the party's nomination for the April 2028 general election.
Kwon had been disciplined after grabbing floor leader Jeong Jeom-sig by the collar during a dispute over parliamentary committee assignments. He said he accepted the revised decision and apologized again for causing public concern.
