A special counsel has sought a one-year prison sentence for Oh Dong-woon, chief of South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office, accusing him of delaying a parliamentary perjury complaint and obstructing investigations. Prosecutors also requested one-year sentences for Deputy Chief Lee Jae-seung and former senior prosecutor Park Seok-il, while seeking three years for former senior prosecutors Kim Sun-gyu and Song Chang-jin over alleged abuses of authority.
Oh denied the charges, saying the delayed reassignment reflected an effort to manage the organization, and the sentencing request is not a final verdict.
