Former Democratic Party lawmaker Noh Woong-raeโ€™s acquittal has become final after prosecutors decided not to appeal his second-trial verdict to the Supreme Court. Noh had been found not guilty at both the first and appellate trials on bribery and illegal political-funding charges.

Prosecutors said they considered recent court standards on the legality of obtaining and using evidence, as well as the likelihood that a Supreme Court appeal would succeed. Because the prosecution declined to appeal, the appellate acquittal now stands as the final outcome and the case ends without Supreme Court review.
