Road-safety data show that crashes between midnight and 6 a.m. during recent Chuseok holidays had a fatality rate about 3.5 times the daytime level. The analysis covered 11,510 holiday crashes from 2021 through last year, with 181 deaths and 18,903 injuries. Dawn crashes made up a relatively small share of incidents but a disproportionately large share of deaths.
