Bundang Restaurant Break-In Prompts Chemical and Motive Investigation

Police are investigating a break-in at a Chinese restaurant in Bundang after two masked intruders damaged the premises, sprayed black paint and left containers associated with pesticides and insecticides inside.

An hour of damage before dawn

CCTV reportedly captured two people entering the restaurant at about 2:40 a.m. They spent roughly an hour moving through the property, damaging a window, the payment terminal, chairs and other fixtures. The owner learned of the destruction after being contacted by the building manager in the morning.

Investigators are examining whether chemicals were sprayed on food stored at the restaurant. Reports described an unusual odor from a refrigerator, but the available evidence does not establish that any food was contaminated or consumed.

Chemical containers were found, but contamination has not yet been established.

Confirmed boundary from the available reporting

The attack concentrated partly on the restaurant's sign. The business shares its name with China's top leader, and the owner said people had previously called or visited to object to the name and suggest changing it.

A similar incident occurred about two months earlier, when two people allegedly applied paint to the restaurant exterior and fled. Police are checking whether the same suspects were involved in both cases.

Police examine a possible connection

The reported motive remains an allegation rather than a confirmed police finding. The damage to the sign and earlier complaints provide a line of inquiry, but investigators still need to identify the suspects and establish why they targeted the business.

The case also carries a public-safety dimension beyond property damage. If toxic substances reached ingredients or food-storage areas, forensic results will be needed before the scope of risk can be known.

Police are tracing the suspects through nearby CCTV footage and comparing the new incident with the earlier vandalism. The key findings will concern identity, motive and the laboratory examination of materials recovered from the restaurant.
