Student living-expense loans from the Korea Student Aid Foundation rose sharply over two years, reaching 850.6 billion won in 2025. The total increased from 640.67 billion won in 2023, a rise of 209.92 billion won, or 32.8%, while the number of loans also grew from 432,171 to 457,012. Delinquency increased alongside borrowing, with overdue loans reaching 38.7 billion won as more students faced repayment difficulties.
