Two-person households are projected to exceed 30% of all households in South Korea next year for the first time, reaching 6.89 million households and 30.2% of the total. Their share is also expected to surpass the combined share of three- and four-person households, while two-person households grow 2.1% compared with 0.9% growth for all households.

The projection comes from the National Data Office’s long-term household estimates, which put the total number of households at 22.807 million next year.
