Welcome Savings Bank was hacked for more than 119 hours, but the company did not recognize the intrusion until five days after it began. According to documents submitted by the Financial Supervisory Service to Democratic Party lawmaker Han Chang-minโs office, the attack started at 5:09 p.m. on September 27 and was identified at 4:04 p.m. on October 2, 116 hours and 55 minutes later.
The discovery followed an email from the Korea Financial Security Institute sharing related internet protocol information after the Shinhan Bank hacking case, prompting the bank to conduct its own check.
