Former President Yoon Suk Yeol was acquitted on appeal in a case over allegedly receiving free opinion polls from political broker Myung Tae-gyun. Seoul High Court Criminal Division 7 overturned the first-instance ruling, which had sentenced Yoon to two years in prison, and acquitted both Yoon and Myung on political funding charges.

The same panel is scheduled to rule on Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s appeal in a separate alleged poll-payment case on October 23.
