The New Leap Fund canceled 1.5968 trillion won in long overdue debt held by 183,000 financially vulnerable borrowers on October 2. Nearly 90% of the canceled claims had been delinquent for more than 10 years, with an average of 8.71 million won erased per person.
Borrowers still need to verify that their debt was canceled and separately check whether any seizure has been lifted and credit records have been updated.
