South Korea's Health Ministry has proposed changing rules so residents of designated senior housing can remain there while receiving long-term home-care services. The draft would address a restriction that can force older residents to leave when they can no longer manage everyday tasks independently, even if support might allow them to stay.
The ministry opened consultation on October 13, with comments accepted until November 23, and the proposal concerns a sector with 47 senior housing facilities nationwide. These protections are still under consultation and should not be treated as an enacted entitlement.
