A new form of school violence known as “Yacha Rule,” involving arranged fighting, is increasing in Daegu. The school violence committees reviewed 25 related cases from the 2024 school year through August 2026, rising from six cases in 2024 to eight in 2025 and 11 between March and August 2026.
About 80% of alleged perpetrators received relatively light measures such as an apology or community service, prompting calls for stronger responses.
