Daegu plans to use water from the Geumho River as an alternative source for tap water in some areas beginning early next month, as drought at Unmun Dam intensifies. The measure will cover all of Dong-gu and parts of Suseong-gu and Buk-gu, which currently receive water from the Unmun Dam system.
The city is inspecting emergency supply facilities near the Gyeongsan intake and conducting additional water-quality tests, marking the first such use of the river since 2018.
