An estimated 1,898 households affected by last year’s major wildfires in Gyeongsangbuk-do are still living in temporary modular homes, lawmakers said during a parliamentary audit on October 20. Governor Lee Cheol-woo said many residents are elderly or reluctant to build new homes, and suggested shifting toward direct housing support.

The audit also criticized the province’s low execution of regional extinction response funds and hometown donation funds, along with poor management of commissioned research.
