Four-Year Sentence Finalized in Case That Killed 23 Workers

The Supreme Court has finalized a four-year prison sentence for Park Soon-kwan, the CEO of Aricell, in the case involving the deaths of 23 workers. A trial court had sentenced him to 15 years, but the appeals court reduced the term to four years, ruling that failing to install an emergency exit on the factory’s second floor was not illegal, and the Supreme Court upheld that judgment.

Families of the victims protested the ruling and said they are considering a constitutional complaint over the trial.
