A total of 228 students at an elementary school in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, have reported vomiting, stomach pain or diarrhea since October 17, prompting health authorities to investigate a possible cluster of foodborne illness. Authorities collected samples from symptomatic students and recovered preserved meals served at the school from October 11 to 16, while the city, education officials and food safety authorities coordinate the inquiry.
The cause has not been confirmed, and test results are expected around October 23.
