A total of 165 people died in farm machinery accidents in Gyeongbuk from 2022 through September 2026, according to data from the Gyeongbuk Fire Department. People aged 60 and older accounted for 150 deaths, or 90.9 percent of the total, while the same age group represented 2,397 of 2,773 injured people, or 86.4 percent.
Firefighters responded to 3,137 farm machinery incidents during the period, with cultivators involved in 1,968 cases, or 62.7 percent. The figures show that older residents bear most of the fatal and injury burden in the region's farm machinery accidents, with cultivator incidents making up the largest share of emergency responses.
