A 60-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of trying to kill his former wife, who had received a police safety smartwatch. Police allege that he waited outside her home in Seongnam on October 19, forced his way inside when she opened the door for work, and attacked her with a knife; she had not regained consciousness when the reports were published.

He fled and was arrested about two hours later outside the home of the victim’s sister in Seoul’s Jungnang district, where he was allegedly carrying a knife. The Suwon District Court’s Seongnam Branch issued the detention warrant, citing concerns that he might flee or destroy evidence.
