An Incheon teacher won part of a civil damages claim against a former student who created and distributed deepfake sexual exploitation material targeting her. The Incheon District Court's Civil Division 13 ordered the defendant to pay about 17.7 million won, while the teacher had sought about 72 million won for treatment, lost income and emotional harm. The student had secretly filmed the teacher more than 50 times as a high school student, combined the footage with nude images and posted it on social media; a criminal sentence of three years became final in December 2025.
The teachers' union said the ruling confirms that perpetrators can face civil liability separately from criminal punishment, while noting that the awarded amount was far below the claim and may not fully reflect the teacher's treatment and leave from work.
