Busan Transportation Corporation and the Busan Subway Workersโ Union reached a tentative agreement at about 11 p.m. on October 22 after reopening negotiations, averting the planned strike. The agreement includes a 3.5% wage increase and a joint labor-management body to improve the objectivity of staffing decisions, including frontline safety personnel.
The union withdrew its strike declaration, preventing the service disruption that passengers had feared, while differences over public-service worker treatment, shift systems, and subsidiary staffing were narrowed.
