A husband in his 70s and his wife in her 60s were killed after a vehicle struck them while they were handling an earlier crash on the Yeongdong Expressway near Saemal Interchange in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, at about 2:20 a.m. on October 24. The couple had been outside an SUV after it collided with a car, and a following vehicle then hit them; three other people at the scene were injured.
Police believe the following driver may not have seen the people on the road and are investigating the exact circumstances. In a separate crash near Yeoju Service Area around 4 a.m., a car hit an overturned 11-ton truck, and a man in his 50s directing traffic suffered a serious leg injury after a fire broke out.
