A 40-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of killing his former partner in Daejeon after she had previously reported him for stalking. Police say he allegedly strangled her at her home on October 24, removed the SIM card from his phone and fled toward Incheon and Gangneung before being arrested at a lodging facility about 19 hours later.

A court issued an arrest warrant, citing a risk of flight, while investigators examine phone evidence and other details to determine whether the killing was planned. Women's and civic groups are calling for stronger protection and separation measures for people facing stalking and violence in intimate relationships.
